ABOUT ME

Hi there, I’m Clotilde, a passionate crocheter and lucky mother of 2 adorable boys.

When I left France to live in Asia, my grandmother, an amazing maker in pretty much everything that exists in crafts,  gave me a little cookie tin with a few crochets and cotton balls inside, “to make stars applique to hang in your Christmas tree, you’ll see it’s easy” she said. And it stayed in a drawer for about a year, until I found these cute things online called amigurumi, and decided I wanted to learn how to make them. But my grandmother was not around so I dived into online tutorials about crochet and amigurumis. I often say “I learned all by myself” but it’s not quite true, I actually learned from these formidable makers and their free tutorials online. I struggled a bit at first. But I progressed over the years, and now I feel it’s my turn to share something, my creations, my tips and tricks.

I hope my patterns with detailed instructions and photos will make it easy for you to crochet cute toys and home decor items! I try as much as I can to insert more photos or little videos where I find something can be confusing, or where I remember I got stuck myself when I was a beginner.

Apart from crocheting, I’m also a musician, I love diving, cooking (that’s my French side), all sorts of DIY crafts, playing with my boys, playing tennis and soccer, and I’m very proud of my Japanese half-blood roots as well. So you might find a little bit of all of that in my designs.

What about you, how did you come to crochet ? Any particular project you would love to see here or amigurumi technique you are struggling with ?  Feel free to send me an email to share at clotilde@octopuscrochet.com

If you want to be the first to know when I release a new pattern or tutorial, sign up for my email list below.
