This Halloween spider web lollipop is the third lolly of my Halloween Lollipops set. Because lollies are all cute and all, but Halloween requires a dose of scary creatures. This pattern is perfect for beginners, it’s easy to make and brings a final touch and WOW effect to this lollipops set.

After I did the spiral lollipop, I realised it was a bit too advanced for beginners. So if you are looking for a quick decor to make, accessible to beginners, you’ve come to the right place! This spider web lolly looks sophisticated when in fact it’s the easiest of my three Halloween lollipops. Plus you can play with the spider position, and even make a few more just to decorate your table.
Scroll down for the free pattern or you can also directly purchase a nice add-free pdf version of this pattern in my shop on Etsy for a small fee. The pdf version has all the pictures, instructions, and it’s ready-to-print to carry along with you wherever you want to sit and crochet!
Good news! You like the Halloween Lollies set and want to have all three patterns in one place? The pdf regrouping the Halloween Swirl, Spider Web and Spiral lollies will soon be available in my shop on Etsy. Stay tuned!

MATERIAL
- 3.5mm / US E-4 crochet hook
- Yarn: #3 / DK / light worsted yarn, 8ply, 80% cotton 20% Milk Fiber, in white, black, and light beige (I use a local shop yarn, but you can combine any colour)
- Fiberfill
- Tapestry needle
- A pair of 7mm googly wiggle eyes (not child safe!)
- A stitch marker (or a strand of thinner yarn) to mark your rounds start
- DMC Cotton Perle N°8 shade 310 (Black)
- Optional: a wooden stick of 5 mm diameter and 13.5 cm length (you can use a longer one and saw it to the right length with a bread knife). 5mm diameter is approximately the size of a wooden disposable chopstick, if you have some in your kitchen drawers.
LEVEL
Beginner.
GAUGE AND SIZE
- With the above material: 5-round circle = 5cm (2″). Find out how to measure gauge for amigurumis in my tutorial here.
With the material mentioned above and when gauge is achieved:
- the stick is 16.5cm (6,5″) long (the top will be hidden inside the lollipop)
- The lolly diameter is 10 cm (3,9″)
PATTERN NOTES AND SPECIAL TECHNIQUES
- The number before the abbreviation represents how many times to work one type of stitch into consecutive stitches from the previous round. Ex: 3inc = work one increase into each of the next 3 stitches.
- This pattern has two parts, the sugar candy, and the stick. Alternatively, you can also directly glue a wooden stick to the candy part with hot glue and skip the crochet stick part of the pattern (but then it’s not child safe for toddlers or young kids, remember to always monitor closely when toddlers or young kids are playing with toys).
- Please note that glued wiggle eyes are not child safe.
ABBREVIATIONS
This tutorial follows US crochet notations.

- st(s): stitch(es)
- [number]: total number of stitches of the round/row
- Rnd: Round
- (…) x 2: repeat whatever is in between the parenthesis the number of times indicated
- BLO: in the back loop only
HALLOWEEN SPIDER WEB LOLLIPOP PATTERN
THE WHITE SUGAR CANDY PATTERN
With white yarn:Start with orange colour.
Rnd 1: work 6sc into a magic ring. [6]
Rnd 2: inc in each st around. [12]
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Rnd 4: (2sc, inc) x 6. [24]
Rnd 5: (3sc, inc) x 6. [30]
Rnd 6: (4sc, inc) x 6. [36]
Rnd 7: (5sc, inc) x 6. [42]
Rnd 8: (2sc, inc, 4sc) x 6. [48]
Rnd 9: (5sc, inc, 2sc) x 6. [54]
Rnd 10: (2sc, inc, 6 sc) x 6. [60]
Rnd 11: in BLO, sc around. [60]
Fasten off. Make a second one, but stop after Round 10. Fasten off and leave a long tail, about 50cm (20″).
Put the two circles together, wrong side to wrong side and using the yarn tail, sew them together with a whip stitch seaming, leaving 5 stitches open before the end to insert the stick.
THE STICK CROCHET PATTERN
With your light beige yarn:
Rnd 1: work 5sc into a magic ring. [5]
Rnd 2-29: sc around. [5]
There are several options to stuff the stick:
- you can use fiberfill if it’s destined to children and you want a safe toy, the downside being that it will be all flexible and will be bending with the weight of the lollipop spiral.
- you could use a pipe cleaner, but it will also be a bit too flexible and it’s not child safe.
- my preferred option is to use a wooden stick to put inside to have a rigid stick. If it’s big enough (like chopsticks diameter) and if the ends are flat and not sharp it should not go out easily.
Of course you can adjust the length of the stick to your liking with a few more rounds or a few less. Fasten off, sew closed, and leave a long tail to sew the stick to the swirl.
ASSEMBLY
Fill the white sugar part slightly with fiberfill (not too much so that it remains a bit flat). Insert the stick in the lollipop opening, leaving approximately 13 cm (5,1″) of the stick outside. Using the white yarn tail, sew the stick to the lollipop to close this hole and secure the stick.
THE SPIDER WEB
Choose the side of the lolly you prefer, and with your black cotton perle yarn, thread a tapestry needle and start to embroider the spider web.
I first started with a 8 branches star.
Then embroider the circles by drawing one arc of a circle between every 2 branches. Enter the circle anywhere close to the center. Follow the drawing below.
- Odd numbers: exit the circle in a stitch under or close to a branch.
- Even numbers: enter the circle in a stitch under or close to the following branch. For the second round (in blue), try to enter and exit in the same stitches that you used for the first round (in red), so that it looks like a continuous circle.
Make 7 circles for your spider web and space the two last circles a bit more (I left 2 rows of my white lolly).
THE SPIDER
With your black yarn.
Rnd 1: work 5sc into a magic ring. [5]
Rnd 2: inc in each st around, sl st. [10]
Fasten off.
Cut 4 pieces of yarn of 6cm (2,3″) each. Thread your tapestry needle with one strand, and pull half of it through the BACK LOOP of your first stitch. Then insert your needle in the back loop of your second stitch. You’ve just made the front leg and second leg of your spider. Repeat in stitch number 3 and 4. Then repeat on the other side of your round, try to mirror the legs. Then cut the legs to the length you like.
My front legs and back legs are about 2cm (0,8″) and the middle legs are about 2,5cm (1″).
The last detail is to glue the goggly wiggle eyes to your spider. I recommend to first sew the spider to the lollipop, and glue the eyes after.
Now if you’re hooked and want to complete your Halloween decor I’m sure you’ll like the two other lollies of this set. The free patterns of the Spiral Web Lolly and the Halloween Swirl Lolly are available on my blog, and the printable pdf are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.
