Crochet instructions can be a bit overwhelming sometimes… What do you mean “sc3tog”? I remember how frustrating it was when I started to crochet and had to check all these techniques. It’s like learning a language. But harder somehow, cause once you know what it means, you still need to know HOW to make it! And then you find the right tutorial and eventually it translates into beautiful amigurumi or other garment crochet projects, which is pretty awesome. I hope this tutorial will help you get through this step: how to “s3tog” (single crochet 3 stitches together).

MATERIAL
You can take ANY project you are currently working on in single crochet, so it doesn’t really matter which yarn, hook or colour you’re using.
In this tutorial I’m using:
- 3.5mm / US E-4 crochet hook
- Yarn: #3 / DK / light worsted yarn, 8ply, 80% Cotton 20% Milk Fiber in brown colour (I use a local shop yarn).
HOW TO “SC3TOG” (SINGLE CROCHET 3 STITCHES TOGETHER) VIDEO TUTORIAL
So basically, “sc3tog” (or single crochet 3 stitches together) means that you are decreasing and transforming 3 stitches into 1 stitch for your next round. It’s the exact same technique and steps than a simple decrease (or also called “sc2tog”), except you add one more stitch to decrease harder. Let’s jump to the video tutorial:
Et voilà ! Piece of cake, right?
If you are doing an amigurumi and you know how to make invisible decrease, you can also sc3tog with the invisible technique (insert your hook in the front loop only of the first stitch, then directly in the front loop only of the second stitch, then directly in the front loop only of the third stitch, then yarn over and pull through the first 3 loops on your hook, yarn over again and pull through the last 2 loops on your hook). I’ll try to make a video for this soon.
